Inspired by the tropics, planted in the Carolinas

This comprehensive landscape plan and install capture the essence of a luxury resort at this stunning beach home. Inspiration for this design comes from caribbean resorts and the courtyard gardens of Charleston where lush bouquets of color spill out of orderly boxwood hedging. We graded the property ensuring drainage and even planting beds before bringing in three dump trucks of compost. Good soil is the key to a low maintenance successful garden for years to come. The homeowner wanted to create a private pool area and hide the parking from the frontal view to give privacy and differentiate the property from the usual gravel lots seen around the island. The Oleanders, Hydrangeas, Azaleas, Camellias and Lantana ensure a color pop in every season while Boxwood and Pittosporum provide structure. What really made this project special were the specimen trees. The client picked out two triple trunked native Sabal Palms flank the front entrance and a massive Live Oak planted by the driveway. These mature specimens along with the existing cedar make the space feel older and harmonize the large home with the land. As the Live Oaks on the site mature they will create the majestic arbor that makes beaches like St Simons GA and Kiawah SC so desirable.
